Hans Thompson was born in Seattle, Wash. in 1924 and enlisted in the Army at Pullman, Wash. in 1942. At the time of his enlistment he was unmarried and had completed one year of college. Thompson joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colo., later transferred to Camp Swift, Tex. before being sent to Italy.
